First SLF Online a huge success

It was fantastic to see so many of you take part in our first online Scottish Learning Festival. We successfully delivered over 100 sessions which saw around 10,000 engagements from delegates over the three days. The feedback has been great and we were delighted to see so many of you share your experiences on social media during the festival.

We love getting your feedback as it helps shape our future plans for the festival. The Critical Conversations which took place at this year’s event, were developed in direct response to comments shared on social media earlier in the year. We are listening and want to capture as much feedback as possible, to build on the success of this year's learning festival. If you attended, you should have received an email with a link to a short survey, so please take time to complete and submit your comments.

The recordings from most of the sessions at this year’s event are now available. You can watch the sessions through the SLF virtual event portal until 30 November 2021. You can access the portal in either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on a desktop or laptop using the log in details emailed to you after you registered. If you didn’t manage to register for SLF Online, you can still access the recordings by emailing the SLF mailbox with your name, email address and organisation. Someone from the team will then sort out access for you. Full details on how to access the recordings on the portal are now available here

Did you know, you can still visit the SLF Online Exhibition area? With over 40 stands you can view videos and download materials or watch the OnDemand videos. You can access this through the SLF virtual event portal and click on Exhibition.

The Scottish Learning Festival is taking place on Tuesday 21 September until Thursday 23 September 2021 and the theme for this year’s event has been confirmed: ‘Renew, Refresh, Re-imagine: Learning from our experiences and looking to the future.’

Each year we try to explore, review and adapt SLF to ensure we bring an event that’s current and inspiring and this year’s conference programme is being carefully developed to reflect the theme. Delegates will be able to enjoy the 3 day conference through a range of live and recorded sessions and find a space to network with colleagues in a fantastic digital arena; a first for SLF!

SLF is free to attend and the conference programme is developed to support career long professional learning, helping to keep professional practice fresh, up-to-date and relevant.

HM Chief Inspector for Education and Chief Executive of Education Scotland, Gayle Gorman said: “I’m delighted the Scottish Learning Festival is back. It’s been a difficult year but the Education community has shown an incredible amount of resilience. This year’s SLF is a perfect opportunity for us all to reflect, discuss, network and be inspired. I also hope it will allow lots of you who found it difficult to join a physical event, the chance to get involved.”

Further details and instructions on how to register will be announced soon. In the meantime please save the date in your diary: Tuesday 21 September until Thursday 23 September 2021.
